extremism

my thoughts on religion and those who do have a faith in something is that I see no harm in anything that adds to your life as long as while you are having your life added to, you are not taking something away from others.

this is pretty much my attitude towards any activity I encounter.

drugs are ok, but there are very few that can alter a persons chemistry with no harmful long or short term effects, only very responsible people should take drugs, but that is rarely the case, and how many peoples lives are destroyed, how many people are harmed in the process of trafficking them? The war on drugs is not winnable. What are other alternatives? Alcohol is the most damaging drug to our modern society, it happens to be worse than cigarettes for the health of 1st world societies, and is freely available to anyone who wants it in almost every developed nation on the planet. How many lives are ruined by the substance? if youre a casual drinker fine, if youre a habitual drunk driver ? A violent drunk, an untreated alcoholic irresponsible people and mind altering substances cause the most amount of harm that I can think of.

religious zealots? Extremism in any form tends to breed violence, oppression, harm. Be they extremist environmental activists spiking trees resulting in the deaths of mill workers, be they animal rights activist who release lab animals into the wild that have no chance of survival, be they neo nazi racists who call for the extermination of all Jews and Blacks. To each of these groups their cause is their religion and extremism is a luxury bought by those with expensive taste but poor understanding, offering whole meals as charity to empty stomachs growling reality no atrocity is committed without the conviction of someones extremist religion. an untreated alcoholics religion is the substance, his prayers are the raising of the glass to his lips, repeated like a mantra over and over and over repeated to extreme.

telemarketers its not their fault, theyre doing their job, but cmon. If I havent changed my phone service the last 20 times you've called, I probably wont this time. Theyre a cult I tell you. Theres no other explanation. Telemarketers have to be cultists, they deal with more rejection than a Hari Christna in the middle of Laguardia.
