Help I'm regressing due to lack of work!

"It no longer matters in America whether something is true or false. The population has been conditioned to accept anything: sentimental stories, lies, atomic bomb threats..."

John MacArthur, publisher of Harper’s magazine.

This Thursday is my poetry slam at AS220, Providence. Mike Celemme is featuring. I'm not hosting youth slam nights for a while. Everything poetry wise with me is great lately.

From the news: Jessica Lynch was in a 507th Maintenance Company convoy on March 23 when her company was ambushed near the city of Nasiriyah, Iraq. Eleven soldiers died and nine were wounded in a 90-minute firefight.

Lynch became a national hero after media reports quoted unnamed U.S. officials as saying she fought fiercely before being captured, firing on Iraqi forces despite sustaining multiple gunshot and stab wounds. In the end, Army investigators concluded that Lynch was injured when her Humvee crashed into another vehicle in the convoy after it was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

Far from a scene of battlefield heroism, the Army said the convoy blundered into the ambush after getting lost and many of the unit’s weapons malfunctioned during the battle.

The U.S. military also released video taken during an apparently daring rescue by American special forces who raided the Iraqi hospital where she was being treated. Iraqi doctors at the hospital said later the U.S. rescuers had faced no resistance and the operation had been over-dramatized. Five other 507th Maintenance Company soldiers who were captured and held apart from Lynch were freed April 13.

Lynch herself has been quoted as saying she can remember nothing of the ambush or the rescue. “The failure here was that the news media got to thinking the government could be trusted to reflect reality,” said Carolyn Marvin, professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication.

A spokesman for U.S. Central Command in Florida had no comment when asked about assertions that the heroism tale was government propaganda.

There's noting shocking at all about being lied to by the U.S. government about war. Every U.S. war was preceded by propaganda. Remember the Maine? It was a boiler accident that blew that ship up not the Spanish. Gulf of Tonkin? The CIA was conducting missions there for months before the attacks, so were the attacks truly unprovoked? Chances are no.

There's always propaganda, so that's not shocking. What's truly shocking is that a democracy like this one - a democracy that is so freedom loving at the president likes to say - put up with it. They stand by and take the lies and don't care. President Clinton lied about petty personal things like real estate deals and affairs. President Bush lies about affairs of state - things like weapons of mass destruction and nook-lee-ur programs - things that result in people dieing. Yet no one really cares.

Bush has already raised over 10 times as much money for his re-election campaign as all of the Democratic contenders put together. Why? Because America is full of stupid people who don't read.

How's the economy?

Unemployment rates are at record highs.

The interest rates are so low my company is treading water trying to keep us all working in case things turn around in a hurry. If the rates stay this low I'll be out of a job in a year.

WHERE ARE THE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION?

WHERE IS OSAMA?

WHERE'S SADDAM?

His sons are dead? Whoo Hoo! RE ELECT THE PRESIDENT! HE DID SOMETHING! NOW'S YOUR CHANCE - YOU HAVE A REASON YOU FOX NEWS WATCHING MIDDLE SCHOOL MENTALITY JERKWADS.

NYAH NYAH NYAH NYAH NYAH!!!

Christ I'm bored.
