The Republican party's most visible conservative - the commentator Rush Limbaugh announced during his radio program Friday that he is addicted to painkillers and is checking into a rehab center to "break the hold this highly addictive medication has on me."
Can we all say Mr. Hypocrite now?
Rush Limbaugh, strung out on painkillers. Obtained illegally!
Conservatives are at their core - selfish. They want things their way because they believe their way is right. They oppose welfare saying people take advantage of it when in fact it benefits the greatest majority of those who go on it. Most stay on welfare for a short time and use it to get back on their feet. 60% of those on welfare are children. The 40% left are a majority white women. Yet conservatives say it is wasteful, people take advantage of it and thus it is all bad and should be cut. What are they really thinking? They're thinking they pay too much in taxes for social programs and choose to focus on the waste in the system. Yet, when big business gets to use off shore tax havens to avoid paying federal taxes, they say nothing.
No one is a saint. Especially the Moral Right. Time and time again, every person who tries to sell themselves as a person on the moralistic height ground ends up being outed as a charlatan.
Look at the Bush Administration. Bush was elected in part because he was going to take the "sleaze" out of being president - "no more scandals in the white house." Too bad someone on his staff risked national security getting revenge on a critic.
People lambasted President Clinton over the Monica Lewinski affair. Now the people of California elected Arnold - a man accused of much worse - assaulting multiple women over years...
The moral conservative rhetoric is getting really old.
Oh, and there still hasn't been a single ready to deploy, large stockpile, imminent threat of weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq yet - just more and more GI's dieing every other day.
