In October the Army ordered all Army troops to begin wearing black berets to boost morale.
The elite Army Rangers were stunned that they were to lose exclusive use of the black beret, the emblem of their distinctive corps, and the army watched moral plummet.
After a bitter five-month fight, the Army announced that its 3,000 Rangers would trade their exclusive black berets for a tan model and the rest of the 474,000 troops would soon begin wearing the black hats.
The Rangers felt a little better - even though the reported mumbling of "Tan is for sissy's, why can't the loser 'can't do as many pushups as us Rangers' regular army people wear the stupid tan berets? And why are we calling them hats now?" could quite clearly be heard.
The Pentagon replied, "Because and Because."
Then upon hearing the Rangers, the Army Airborne troops - all 40,000 of them - pointed out that they were to continue wearing their traditional maroon berets.
The Rangers moral once again plummeted, but they are Rangers and they're used to hardships - like having to kill an enemy with only their teeth after hiding in a swamp for weeks ignoring the leaches attached to their testicles - so they said "Fine." to the upper brass, awaited delivery of their new tan hats, and saw moral hold steady at "Ehhhh."

Black berets, Tan berets, replacement Maroon Berets, a few pink berets that no one asked about so no one told about... berets everywhere start arriving in boxes, by train, on planes, mostly in boxes...

The Rangers, the Airborne, the Regular Army all say in unison, "WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THAT"
The Pentagon replies, "Damn, that�s right, we hate China now, these have to all go back."
Moral plummets.
