So top US scientists discover no smallpox evidence in Iraq. These top American scientists assigned to the weapons hunt in Iraq found no evidence Saddam Hussein�s regime was making or stockpiling smallpox, The Associated Press has learned from senior military officers involved in the search.
There was a team for several months - May through July or so. They were called Team Pox and were in charge of finding smallpox evidence in Iraq. After months and months of searching, speaking with many trusted Iraqi scientists, and going to the lab the government thought was being used to produce smallpox for weapons, they found nothing but an old lab filled with cob webs, machinery disabled by the U.N. 10 years ago.
